WE PLANT TREES.

And with each tree, we sow the seeds of environmental justice

in Guatemalan indigenous communities.

Proyecto de Reforestación Chico Mendes

(Chico Mendes Reforestation Project)

Chico Mendes is a community-run nonprofit based in the Guatemalan highland village of Pachaj. We began in 1998 with a call to action. Just three crazy friends planting trees on the weekends, sowing the seeds of environmental justice in their indigenous community. Today, Chico Mendes continues reshaping the world, one tree at a time. Our team of local youth and international volunteers harness the power of hands, voices, and hearts, planting trees in the mountains of Cantel and spreading the dream upon which we were founded.
