GETTING HERE

We can safely and reliably get you where you need to go. From airport pickups to your next travel destination, we've got you covered! While public transportation is always an option, camionetas (chicken buses) can be hard to navigate, and it's difficult to find the bus to Pachaj if you don't already know your way around. Compared to taxis and other private transportation companies, we offer a much more convenient and cost-effective option.

Group Transport Van Chico Mendes

Transportation costs vary, depending on the number of passengers and distance between locations. Please contact us for more information.

If you're volunteering with Chico Mendes, we cover all project work transportation costs (e.g., tree nursery to/from reforestation sites). However, since driving takes gas and a driver, we are unable to provide volunteers with free transportation outside of project work (e.g., driving you to/from Xela to visit El Parque Central).

Getting here if you already know your way around Xela

Please let Armando know when you will be arriving at the entrance of Pachaj so he or another person from Chico Mendes can meet you there. Chicken buses leave for Pachaj from Xela about every half hour during the day. Hop on a bus to "La Fábrica Cantel" at the Terminal Minerva (Minerva Bus Terminal) or at La Rotunda (the Rotunda). Please confirm with the driver that the bus is going to Pachaj, Cantel (not Pachaj, San Francisco) and note that you will get off the bus before it reaches La Fábrica Cantel. The ride to Pachaj from Xela is about 25 minutes and costs Q 3.50. Once out of Xela, the bus will go down a two lane highway, crossing a small bridge before stopping briefly at the entrance to Pachaj. Someone from Chico Mendes will meet you at the entrance to Pachaj. If you get lost or confused, call Armando at (502) 5531-3082.
