Living with a local family in Pachaj provides a unique opportunity for full language immersion and cultural exchange. Since 2004, families have welcomed visitors from across the globe, gladly showing them the ins and outs of life in a rural Guatemalan village.

Homestay Cost: Q 200 per day
(Q 120 for meals + Q 50 for private room + Q 30 donation)

Includes: 3 traditional Guatemalan meals/day (with vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc options available upon request), a private bedroom in the house of a trusted local Pachaj family, purified drinking water, new friends, unofficial invitations to local cultural events, probably more than one game of fútbol (soccer), and the opportunity to learn how to wash your clothes by hand in a pila
Homestay included in language school tuition.

Chico Mendes does not receive supplemental government and corporate funding. We provide full room and board to volunteers for a modest fee. Thank you for understanding. Learn more.
